Reclaimed materials, suburban garden, Chester
My clients were very keen to make use of reclaimed materials to create a shady and more intimate space in which to relax and unwind. The garden felt disjointed, without a focal point and limited planting.
We used reclaimed Cheshire bricks as well as the beautiful turquoise 'tiles' within the new wall - these tiles had been saved from a previous project, and were originally owned by the daughter of the founder of Chester Zoo; some lovely local provenance.
The planting is a mix of shade tolerant and full sun loving plants to reflect the different conditions within the garden, two Acer trees have been planted to create key focal points within the planting, but that won't become too large for the space as they establish.
